The Kilycolpy Road in Ardboe has been branded ‘a disaster waiting to happen’ by local Sinn Féin Councillor Ronan McGinley.

A particular stretch of road, beside a busy bus stop for local school children, has been reported to Transport NI (formerly Road Service) by Cllr McGinley numerous times over the past 2 months.

Cllr McGinley said “the Kilycolpy Road as a whole requires attention from Road Service due to its poor state, but this particular stretch beside the bus stop is an absolute disgrace. This is a busy road and I fear a serious accident here if something isn’t done about it”.

“I don’t know what needs to happen to get this fixed properly? I have raised this on a number of occasions, and twice recently a ‘patch up’ has been carried out providing only a temporary ‘sticking plaster’. The road is as bad as ever and requires long term repair. Local people are getting fed up and it’s about time a long term fix was put in place”.

  1. Its the people that inspect the roads fault, they have the means to fix that section of road in a few hours but dont for some reason. Is it political, does it happen on in the road towards Cookstown?
